The continuing adventures of Mrs. Betty Bowers

indexglance     “Hi Betty! What’s the matter? Why so glum?”

“Christians are being persecuted. (sniff).”

“Hows that?”

“We are being denied 0ur freedom to discriminate. It says so right here in the Bibl…. I mean owners manual”.

“Oh, it’s not so bad. You can discriminate all you want!  But if one of my cousins has a hissy tizzy,  you won’t be able to use my Dad this time to get out of trouble. Remember what we talked about??  But not to worry, remember who’s by your side! But from now on, you need to be discriminating in your discrimination, OK?”

“OK. (sniff.) Can I go back to writing my science book now?”

Remembering Lowell George in February

“I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self. A secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody. When in fact, everybody’s nobody.”

No explaination needed.

la-pn-senate-democrats-filibuster-one-graph-20-001The previous thread had as it’s topic an academic exercise  in debating whether or not the Constitution should undergo some updating. I say yes. In my opinion it’s a foregone conclusion.  The evidence for being ameanable is glaring, most of us have eyes and any reasonable person; educated, elected or not should agree. Except southerners. Ghosts of the Civil War. Calling Ken Burns.

The history of behavior, intention and outcome should be a sign post of warning.  Death (figuratively or not)  comes suddenly and it’s the easily beguiled who don’t pay attention. And thus their time is cut short. There has never been a human construct; in any sense of the word  that has remained impervious, static or otherwise fantastically impenetrable to the unknowable and unfathomable forces in the universe. In that sense, we are alone. With each other. Big boats.  So make room for the stink and the  sweat.

The filibuster came about because of the death of Alexander Hamilton. No mention of it in the sacred paper.

So what do you all think?  I think “we” are the foregone conclusion and thus are looking back on the past and are so beyond it.

So with that I say the word god, bible and filibuster are absent in the constitution.

The Bigotry of Low Expectations

I am still in a state of shock over the following report:

The Alabama Federation of Republican Women (AFRW) strongly opposes “race-based standards for student achievement” pushed by the Alabama Department of Education, as reported in The Tuscaloosa News on Sunday, June 30. Minority students will be held to a lower standard, and would be tracked at a lower standard throughout their academic career from K-12.

Beginning this fall, the liberal Department of Education in Alabama will take their racism and apply it to education – how wonderful. Obviously progressive liberals believe that those children, and adults for that matter, of a minority skin color are handicapped, and incapable living a life on their own without assistance from the government, or a helping hand from the altruistic agenda of the progressives. This is just beyond belief, and I feel so sorry for those kids in that school district who don’t stand a chance if progressive liberals continue to run this country. Instead of offering school choice, allowing parents the opportunity to send their children to better schools, with better teachers, and giving them a real opportunity at success, progressives have decided to dumb things down even more, effectively destroying any chance these kids might have. It’s outrageous.
